Learn About Punta Gorda

Punta Gorda includes over 70 miles of canals, all bounded by the beautiful Charlotte Harbor. Natural attractions include a beautifully restored historic district, waterside shopping and leisurely strolls along the Harborwalk and Fishermen’s Village. Located waterfront on the Charlotte Harbor, Fishermen’s Village has over 30 shops, restaurants, services, a resort and marina, plus frequent special events. From Fishermen’s Village you can enjoy sight-seeing cruises, go fishing, hire your own boat to explore, or even go jet-skiing.

Punta Gorda is easily reached along I-75, but also features it’s own airport. It’s also a walkable city, so find a parking space and meander through the streets; Lookout for the hand painted murals on the sides of many downtown buildings. Every 3rd Thursday of the month, the downtown merchants present Gallery Walk. Starting at 4pm, stroll through historic downtown and enjoy the entertainment and refreshments offered by local merchants.

Beaches nearby include Port Charlotte Beach, Boca Grande, Palm Island, Blind Pass Beach, and Englewood Beach. The Punta Gorda Chamber of commerce even operates a trolley tour most Fridays from November to May. A recent addition is the land and sea combo, featuring an hour trolley tour of Punta Gorda followed by a one and a half hour cruise on the Charlotte Harbor. Punta Gorda is also home to 15 parks featuring playgrounds, boat ramps, tennis courts, basketball courts, piers, picnic tables, gazebos, walking paths, and beautiful places for photo opportunities or just watching the sunset.

If you’re in Punta Gorda for the holidays, be sure to check out the Annual Lighted Boat Parade in December!
