Learn About Port Charlotte
Port Charlotte is located halfway between Sarasota and Fort Myers, perfectly positioned to offer all types of water-borne activities. It has more than 165 miles of waterways that provide access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. Port Charlotte also boasts 7 golf courses and the Charlotte Sports Park, which is home to spring training for the Tampa Bay Rays. Tippecanoe Environmental Park, a 380 acre preserve, offers hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and canoeing/kayaking.
Charlotte Harbor is off the beaten path and free of Florida’s crowds while still offering world-class sailing, fishing, boating, birding, shopping, dining, and arts. The Harbor is Florida’s second largest open water estuary, filled with peaceful coves and bays and providing endless opportunities to tackle a tarpon or captain a kayak. This coastal community boasts more than 830 miles of shoreline and is ranked as one of SAIL Magazine’s top 10 places to sail in the U.S.
Art galleries, festivals, a professional symphony orchestra, and theatrical productions offer cultural and artistic experiences year ‘round. Nearly 20 area spas offer massages, facials, manicures, and other relaxing treatments. Shopping ranges from fashionably stylish shops to funky eclectic boutiques and everything in between. Visitors can find traditional shopping at the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall, but don’t miss the Punta Gorda Train Depot, which was built in 1928 and houses a 20-booth antique mall.
The beaches of Charlotte Harbor are easily accessible yet quiet and remote. There are no big crowds here, but an abundance of birds, dolphins, sea turtles, and other wildlife.
Port Charlotte is also home to Visani Restaurant and Comedy Zone, Southwest Florida’s premier nightspot for a great night out. Visani is proud to offer a variety of music and entertainment from all over the United States including top talents from “The Comedy Zone.” Every week comedians from Las Vegas to New York are featured at Visani.
